Invited Professors from Japan and the USA give lecture courses for PhD and Master degree Students of Design of Buildings and Structures Department of the Architecture and Civil Engineering Faculty of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU
At the Architecture and Civil Engineering Faculty start lectures by Prof. Victor Kaliakin, the University of Delaware (the USA) and Prof. Akitoshi Mochizuki, the University of Tokushima (Japan), they are international experts in geotechnics and soil mechanics.
Professors have classes on the Geoecology and geotechnology in seismic regions, Numerical methods and geoinformation technologies in geotechnics, and Research methods for PhD Students of specialty 6D072900 - Civil Engineering, as well as for 1st year Master Students on Fundamentals of research and experimental methods.

During the first week at our university the invited Professors met with Prof. Yerlan Sydykov, the Rector, and with Prof. Assemgul Moldazhanova, the first Vice-Rector- Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.

Professors give consultations on research work for PhD Students in Civil Engineering, including work on setting up the triaxial apparatus system for soil testing.

Prof. Akitoshi Mochizuki is a foreign consultant for Iliyas Zhumadilov, 1st year’s PhD Student in Civil Engineering, the Design of Buildings and Structures Department (PhD thesis on Analysis of the mechanical properties of soil bases).

Lectures by invited Professors have theoretical and practical significances for PhD and Master Students. Also be noted that in October and November 2018 department plans to carry out the scientific seminars on the TC305 ISSMGE “Geotechnical infrastructure for Megacities and New Capitals”, which will be attended with scientific reports by invited Professors, teachers, also PhD and Master Students of the Designing Buildings and Structures Department.
